Leona Maguire inducted into the Players Hall of Fame

Modest Golf Management client and former Duke graduate Leona Maguire has received the call from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) to be inducted into the Players Hall of Fame, which will take place Monday, Dec. 9, 2024.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. Maguire and Caroline Westrup become the 88th and 89th members of the WGCA Players Hall of Fame.  Maguire will be the seventh Blue Devil to be inducted joining Anna Grzebien (2023), Candy Hannemann (2022), Jenny Chuasiriporn (2021), Liz Janangelo (2019), Virada Nirapathpongporn (2016) and Amanda Blumenherst (2015).

Maguire, a 2018 Duke graduate, completed her four-year career with the Blue Devils as one of the most successful golfers in school and NCAA history. She was a two-time PING WGCA Player of the Year and ANNIKA Award winner, 2015 WGCA Freshman of the Year Presented by Strackaline, two-time recipient of the Golfstat Cup, recipient of the 2017 Edith Cummings Munson Golf Award and just the fourth four-time WGCA First Team All-American in Duke's history.

A native of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire helped lead the Blue Devils to 14 team wins over four years, including back-to-back ACC Championships in 2017 and 2018, and her 10 individual titles include three ACC Championships and one NCAA Regional Championship. The two-time NCAA Runner-up not only broke records in the Duke books, but she also set new NCAA records during her career. Her 87 rounds of even or under par and 32 rounds in the 60s were the most in NCAA history at the time, and she previously held the record for the lowest stroke average in NCAA history of golfers with 100 or more rounds (70.97).

She has been a member of the LPGA since 2020 and has collected 21 top 10 finishes and two wins, while appearing in three Solheim Cups. Maguire has also represented Ireland in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympics.
